Pulling plugs on the Exchange

ANOTHER 3,000 screens went dark in the City in the closing three months of last year, the London Stock Exchange revealed today. The number of its terminals rented by professional users dropped from 94,000 to 91,000 but, despite tough conditions, the Exchange's turnover in its third quarter rose by 7% to £59.4m. Chief executive Clara Furse said it was on course for satisfactory results in the year to March.
