Quay attraction for Diamond Jubilee

12 April 2012

A former industrial site in east London is to be transformed into a 21st century "pleasure garden" with music, theatre and art in time for next year's Diamond Jubilee weekend.

London's Pleasure Gardens will feature a concert stage and floating restaurant when they open in June next year on the Silvertown Quays site at the Royal Docks.

The scheme was given funding after the team behind it, which also created the Shangri-La zone at the Glastonbury Festival, won a competition to find a temporary use for the public land.
