Ramsay's stay at Claridge's is cut short

12 April 2012

Gordon Ramsay has been hit by another setback after only being offered a 12-month contract at his restaurant at Claridge's.

The F-Word chef, 44, had previously been given a 10-year deal by the Mayfair hotel to run its eponymous restaurant, which has seen a 6.3 per cent fall in reservations.

The shorter than expected deal is the latest blow to Ramsay, who has also only been given a one-year extension to his TV contract at Channel 4.

Sales at his restaurant group fell 9.5 per cent in the year to last August, which it attributed to the closure of The Boxwood Café and The Devonshire gastro-pub.
