Rohypnol temptress jailed

A woman "temptress" who used the date rape drug Rohypnol to knock out wealthy male victims was jailed for five years today as police revealed she struck at least six times.

Selina Hakki, 37, became the first woman to be convicted of using the powerful sedative on men to steal at least £20,000 worth of property.

City banker Volker Vogler, 38, and film director Alex Jovy, 34, producer of the Oscar-nominated 2000 film Sorted, were two of her victims. They gave evidence of how she drugged them after they invited her back for drinks at their homes.

Detectives today told how she was finally trapped by DNA and fingerprints - and admitted they suspected she may have acted with an accomplice although they could not prove it.

Hakki, a mother of two, cruised expensive nightclubs for prey and once she had taken them back to their flats, spiked their drinks with Rohypnol and stripped their homes of expensive goods.

Officers found a haul of items at her east London flat. Some of the owners have yet to be identified.

The stolen goods included a Tiffany clock, champagne, designer clothes, Rolex and Omega watches and a video camera. Police also believe she sold many items she stole.

Once she had spotted a potential victim wearing designer clothes or an expensive watch she relied on her pout, a generous display of cleavage or a bared thigh to secure an invitation back to their apartments.

Using red wine to conceal the sedative's bright blue dye, she then encouraged them to drink up. Within minutes they were "out for the count".

They came to many hours later to find her and many of their prized possessions gone, London's Middlesex Guildhall Crown Court heard. A jury took just 20

minutes last month to convict Hakki of four offences, two of causing Rohypnol to be taken and two of theft.

Today Guyana-born Hakki, of Gale Street, Bow, stood with her head bowed and sobbed as Judge Henry Blacksell told her: "I have no doubt that you committed these very serious offences for gain.

"They demonstrated a degree of planning, sophistication and controlling behaviour."
