Sainsbury 's launches lunch menu

SUPERMARKET giant Sainsbury's is launching a 'Food To Go' range for shoppers who want 'more than just a sandwich' for lunch. It hopes to win back customers from market leader Tesco.

'We're bringing together hot and cold products to meet the snack-and-go mentality,' said assistant managing director Sara Weller. 'Most people spend 60 seconds choosing their lunch.'

The distinct pastas, soups and salads will be available in 80 stores next month.

Marks & Spencer is still the biggest clothing chain in Europe, despite its retreat from the continent, said Mintel. But Sweden's H&M 'provides a real threat' to its pole position.
