Sheena does the splits (again)

What was once suspected has now been confirmed beyond all doubt: Sheena Easton is truly one of the all-time greats.

Her place in pop's hall of fame does not, however, have anything to do with her contribution to our musical heritage.

Instead it is husbands. The Scottish star, who spends most of her time in Las Vegas these days, has just announced that her fourth marriage, to plastic surgeon John Minoli, is over after only 13 months.

For Easton, 44, that is about par for the course. None of her other marriages has lasted for more than 18 months.

It does, however, put her up there with some of the legendary figures of wedlock. By the age of 44 Joan Collins - now on her fifth husband Percy Gibson - was still enjoying her third marriage, to Ron Kass.

Even Elizabeth Taylor, who has notched up seven husbands and eight marriages, had only managed to rack up one more husband by the time she was 44.

Easton, who is believed to be worth at least £40 million, let her fans know marriage number four was over during one of her Las Vegas shows, saying she was single and planning "to start dating again".

One friend said of the split: "He worked in Beverly Hills and she worked in Vegas, and the weekend marriage and commuting drove them apart."
