A dead sperm whale exploded on a city street showering shops and cars with blood and entrails.
The 50-ton, 55ft long carcass was heading for a research centre on the back of a lorry when gases built up in its gut.
Workers spent hours clearing up the mess. 'The smell was awful,' said one witness in Tainan City, Taiwan.
