Toothache sparks prison riot

A remand prisoner who complained he was not given strong enough painkillers for his toothache appears to have triggered a riot causing tens of thousands of pounds damage at Lewes jail.

The prison service confirmed that about 30 inmates smashed up two offices, windows and computers before flooding the wing.

One officer was treated in hospital for cuts after Tuesday night's riot.
