Twitter writing on the wall at London museum

12 April 2012

A giant wall of tweets from Londoners is to be unveiled at the Museum of London tomorrow.

The installation will show tweets sent within a three-mile radius of the museum, and is part of a £20 million refit. Artists Jon Thomson and Alison Craighead will typeset the texts and print them as A3 posters with a date and time.

The posters will then be pasted up in the museum's foyer in a chronological order, with new tweets being pasted over old. They will be viewable to passers-by as well as visitors.

"We want to create a mirror of what people are thinking about and talking about in the area around the museum," said Miss Craighead.

"This can create a record of twitter, and in 20 to 25 years it will be really interesting to ge back and see what people were thinking about."
