Under-21 star gets drink drive ban

Fulham and England under-21 star Sean Davis was convicted of drink driving today and banned from the road for one year.

The 22-year-old midfielder broke his team's non-drinking policy on a night out in the West End which ended with his arrest in Battersea Park Road. South Western magistrates heard police stopped Davis in his Y-reg BMW after he jumped a red light and drove the wrong way down a one-way street. In the car was Davis's girlfriend and other companions.

He was asked to take a breath test which proved positive and was arrested at 5am on 31 March. At Battersea police station he gave a reading of 62 micrograms in 100mls of breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.

Davis has said that any Fulham player drinking to excess would be unlikely to play for the club again. In court his barrister, David Barnes, said that Davis had been fined a club maximum of two weeks' wages.

He was fined £600 with £55 costs by the court.
