William hailed as 'perfect gentleman' after pub gig

13 April 2012

Prince William was a "perfect gentleman" when he took time out from his military training to visit a bar in a seaside town, it has been revealed.

The future King of England popped in for some live music at Bliss bar in Bournemouth, Dorset, with four Army friends on Wednesday night.

Jim Beedham, operations director at Future 3000, which owns the bar, said he arrived at 10.30pm and left at closing time three hours later.

Mr Beedham said: "He was very well behaved, a perfect gentleman, and didn't want any special treatment or any reserved areas.

"He went to the bar like everyone else and left at closing time.

"He was chatting with people while his minders kept a low profile. He was like any other guy his age going out for a drink.

"Most of the time he was sat down with his friends talking but when people went over he would have a chat with them."

Mr Beedham said William was not the bar's first royal visitor and added: "When Prince Harry comes down it's a different situation.

"Prince William is a lot more interactive. His minders allow him to be more interactive with customers, whereas when Prince Harry came in it wasn't like that.

"They had a reserved area and the minders stopped people from approaching him."

Prince William was spotted dancing and allowing to clubbers to take pictures with him on their mobiles at Elements nightclub in the town two weeks ago.

William, who is a member of the Household Cavalry's Blues and Royals like Harry, started his four-and-a-half-month armoured reconnaissance training at Bovington Camp in Dorset last month.

The 24-year-old Army officer is following in the footsteps of his brother by learning how to be a troop leader.
