Woman hit by two trains

Dick Murray12 April 2012

A horrific incident in which a woman was seriously injured delayed tens of thousands of mainline rail commuters into London today.

The unnamed woman is understood to have jumped from a bridge near St Mary Cray and landed on top of the 6.10am Blackfriars to Sevenoaks train.

She was thrown on to the adjacent track where she was struck by the 5.32am Ramsgate to Victoria service. The alarm was raised by passengers who heard her land on the train's roof at about 7am.

The emergency services thought at first the woman had died. She was found to be alive and taken to hospital.

Connex South Eastern later resumed a limited service but there were long delays throughout the morning peak.
