Jennifer Aniston has been vocal in her support of the Black Lives Matter protests that began after the murder of George Floyd last month.
But the Friends alum and current star of The Morning Show has gone beyond sharing resources and petitions to her Instagram following of over 33 million. Entertainment Tonight reported, and Insider confirmed, that Aniston made donations totaling $1 million to civil rights advocacy organizations.
A representative for Aniston has confirmed that the actress donated to several organizations, including Color Of Change, which she has currently linked to in her Instagram profile.
Though Aniston, 51, chose not to publicize the donations, she did share a video of author and activist, James Baldwin, to her Instagram in the wake of George Floyd’s death.
“This week has been heartbreaking for so many reasons. We need to acknowledge that the racism and brutality in this country has been going on for a long time - and it’s NEVER been okay,” Aniston wrote alongside her post.
“As allies, who want equality and peace, it’s our responsibility to make noise, to demand justice, to educate ourselves on these issues, and more than anything, to spread love,” she continued.
“How much more time are we willing to let pass without change? HOW MUCH MORE TIME?” she questioned, urging her fans to sign the Color Of Change petition calling for justice for Floyd and his family.
