Down the cakehole: bake-at-home-pizza

Can you remember the last time you had a pizza delivered? Did it arrive cold, soggy and taste unexceptional?

Now there's good news for pizza fanatics: a new boy in town is changing the face of London's pizza delivery scene.

Twenty-three-year-old Joshua Beth believes that any pizza with a shelf life isn't a pizza worth eating, and his new Fulham-based company, Bakeathomepizza.co.uk, aims to convince us too.

As with any other takeaway pizza, you order what you want and a freshly made pizza will arrive at your door about 30 minutes later.

But you can't dig in straightaway. Following Beth's foolproof cooking instructions, whack it in the oven for 12 minutes until the base goes crispy and the juices start creeping out.

Our favourite options include the bespoke one from £10, the moreish Market Two with pancetta and meatballs, also £10, and the Winter Eight with fresh Portobello and chestnut mushrooms from Covent Garden and truffle oil. Beth even does gluten-free bases.
