Swirling skirts in Elle-gant return for Louis Vuitton

10 April 2012

Like all good fairytales, a month-long season of shows ended on a happy note in Paris thanks to a stellar collection from Louis Vuitton.

The tale's heroine was supermodel Elle Macpherson who made a triumphant return to the catwalk wearing a floor-sweeping gown cut in dusty pink taffeta, part of Marc Jacobs's latest collection for the label.

Yesterday's show was a homage to Stepford wives and ladies who lunch. Swirling circular, calf-length skirts in everything from tweed to stiff printed faille were displayed alongside full-skirted dresses with stiff, bust-squeezing corsets.

Jacobs sent out a rainbow of possibilities for cold weather: salmon with pale yellow and a zingy rose print of yellow, fuchsia and electric blue. Boucle coats came in muted hues of pink and plaid.

In the front row were London's own ladies who lunch, Alexa Chung and Daisy Lowe, face of the label's summer collaboration with Takashi Murakami.
