Fashion was given the sci-fi touch by London College of Fashion graduates in their final collections, shown at the V&A Museum in South Kensington.
For the men, an eye mask was teamed with a sunburst-patterned jacket, red leather trousers and gloves, while touches of equally eye-popping colour and angular silhouettes were the order of the day for women - with wacky headgear here and there. Oversize shoulder panels seemed inspired by a bat's wings on a grey-and-white trouser suit.
A grey-and-taupe cape over a neon orange all-in-one also followed spiky, futuristic lines, while a long column gown featured a bondage-style harness.
The college's MA show, presented this year by radio DJ Lauren Laverne, is seen as a showcase for the designers of the future - former graduates include shoe designer Jimmy Choo and accessories designer Patrick Cox.
Meanwhile, London Fashion Week, starting on February 17, will be the style world's most technologically advanced event yet, said US-born model and fashion blogger Anina.
Virtual reality technology will change the way shows are viewed, while electronic tags in clothes and codes printed on them will give information via an iPhone or iPad, or let customers check they aren't fake, she said, as she prepared to launch a fashion week app.
