How to get 18 days off in 2017 using just 9 days holiday

Put down your coffee and listen up, Londoners: there’s a clever way you can double your holiday time next year in one easy move.

Most of us are looking forward to the Christmas break to enjoy a well-earned rest, but come New Year, you’ll probably be looking for something to pull you through the depressing first few weeks of January.

Luckily, we’ve done some annual leave maths and it’s occurred to us that if you’re smart about using your holiday time next year, you can enjoy a consecutive 18 days off work by booking off just nine days off.

This is due to the way the Bank Holidays fall, with three occuring within a short space of each other.

How does it work?

To get in on the sneaky trick, simply book Tuesday April 18 - Friday April 28 off from work.

In 2017, Good Friday falls on April 14, meaning your last day of work will actually be April 13.

This is then followed by the weekend, plus a bank holiday on April 17 to mark Easter Monday. Finally, you’ll be able to finish your extended break with yet another bank holiday, as May Bank Holiday falls on Monday May 1.
