The world’s best B&B is in Torquay, says TripAdvisor

Just one more reason to head to Devon this summer

If you needed one more excuse to road trip down to Devon this summer, you now have one as the world’s best B&B has just been named – and it’s in Torquay.

Travel search and review site TripAdvisor has just announced its hotel winners for the annual TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Awards and the 25 Boutique B&B in Torquay has taken the top spot as the world’s best B&B this year - and with 514 five-star reviews, we can see why.

Located in what is often referred to as the ‘English Riviera’ due to its temperate climate, the adults-only 25 Boutique B&B is run by owners Andy and Julian Banner-Price and offers six uniquely designed rooms.

While guests have praised everything from comfy beds to spacious rooms, the most-praised aspect of the B&B is the owners themselves, calling them the ‘perfect hosts’ who pay 'amazing attention to detail’.

What’s more, their award-winning breakfast is locally and ethically sourced where possible and offers a buffet of breakfast items alongside a menu of cooked-to-order items like a full English breakfast, eggs benedict and a bacon sandwich.

To get to Torquay from London, you can take a Great Western Railway train from Paddington Station to Torquay Station. From there it is a 10-minute walk to the 25 Boutique B&B.

This is just one of the many accolades scooped up by British hotels in the TripAdvisor Awards, with Bindon Bottom B&B in West Lulworth, Dorset, being named the third best B&B in the world, while The Grange Bed and Breakfast in Fylingthorpe, North Yorkshire and Swallows Rest Bed & Breakfast in Brigstock, Northamptonshire were named fourth and fifth best respectively.

Hotel 41 in London has also been named as the fifth best luxury hotel in the world and Devon’s Tavistock House Hotel is the seventh best small hotel in the world.
