Go wild about leopards in India

The Jawai Leopard Camp opens this month in the remote Aravalli Hills

Opening this month, Jawai Leopard Camp is set in the rocky and remote Aravalli Hills, near Bera in the wilderness of western Rajasthan.

It’s so-called as leopards can roam wild here, giving guests a guaranteed “around 75 per cent” chance of spotting them, according to the owner, Sujan Luxury Hotels.

Each of the eight spacious tents are dressed with pale canvas, stainless steel and leather, with striking monochrome shots of local wildlife and a private deck with his and hers binoculars.

There’s even a library and spa, along with a fleet of sleek customised jeeps for game drives, where there’s also the possibility of sighting wolves, antelope, crocodiles and sloth bears. For a non-wildlife excursion, the newly anointed Unesco World Heritage site of the Kumbhalgarh Fort lies an hour away.

Steppes Travel has a nine-night trip including three nights at Udaipur, three at Jawai Leopard Camp (full board), two in Jodhpur and one in Delhi from £2,750pp B&B including international and domestic flights, steppestravel.co.uk
