A Grade II listed building in Russell Square will soon be home to a grand and glamorous hotel, restored to its original glory.

The Principal London is the latest addition to Principal – a collection of exceptionally located hotels based in landmark buildings – and will open in early 2018.

The 334-room building is steeped in history, having first opened its doors in 1898.

Boasting a striking thé-au-lait (‘tea with milk’) terracotta exterior, you’ll find even more charm inside with the interior designs by Tara Bernerd & Partners and Russell Sage Studio.

They have paid homage to the illustrious history of the location while keeping it stylish and functional for the modern traveller.

The Principal London will not only be a great place for guests but for locals who will be able to benefit from the variety of drinking, dining and partying options the hotel offers.

The rooms include carefully chosen artwork and accessories which nod to Bloomsbury’s literary and artistic heritage.

Principal has also restored historic hotels into high-end hotels in Edinburgh, Manchester and York.

Its collection extends to Cardiff, Glasgow, Leeds and Oxford with plans to open in Birmingham and Liverpool.
