Bermondsey stabbing: Young man fighting for life after being knifed in broad daylight in south-east London

A young man is fighting for life after a stabbing in south-east London amid a spate of violent crime in the capital.

Emergency services rushed to the scene in Bermondsey at about 6.20pm on Monday.

Police and paramedics found a man suffering stab injuries on Lucey Way.

The man, believed to be aged in his early 20s, was taken to a south London hospital where he remains in a critical condition. Police said there had been no arrests.

The incident happened just over an hour after two men were wounded in a clash at Waitrose in High Street Kensington on Monday evening in front of horrified shoppers.

It also comes amid another few days of knife violence in the capital.

On Friday afternoon, masked robbers on a moped slashed a woman after ambushing a family in a car in Coulsdon, near Croydon.

Edmond Jonuzi, 35, an Albanian national, was stabbed to death in north London on Saturday. Scotland Yard said the attack took place during a fight between two groups of men close to Turnpike Lane station, at about 9.40pm.

Witnesses said the victim was stabbed near the playground on Ducketts Common. Doctors tried to save him but he died at the scene. Police said Mr Jonuzi’s family had been told. There have been no arrests.

A 17-year-old boy is also fighting for life after being stabbed at 8.10pm on Sunday in Coles Crescent, Harrow. No arrests have been made.

An hour earlier, a 20-year-old man was stabbed in Wilsmere Drive, Northolt. He is said to be in a stable condition. One man has been arrested. At 6.30pm, a man in his twenties was also found injured in Southwell Road, Brixton.

Police say he remains in a serious but stable condition. There have been no arrests.
