A schoolgirl was allegedly subjected to a serious sexual assault which lasted for more than 90 minutes at the hands of four youths in a north London park.

A boy aged 14 has been arrested on suspicion of serious sexual assault following the alleged “gang rape” in Alexandra Park.

He is believed to have been among a group of four males who attacked the girl, also 14, in the early hours of Saturday.

An area around the boating lake, to the north of Alexandra Palace, was closed off to visitors as officers from the Met’s Sapphire rape unit carried out an investigation at the weekend.

Scotland Yard today said the boy had been released on bail as inquiries continue.
