An “extremely reckless” motorcyclist who killed a pedestrian while speeding at 74mph on a 30mph east London road has been jailed.

Victim Peter Taylor, 61, was hit by a motorbike in a crash in Bow in January 2016. He died in hospital from his injuries two days later.

The motorcyclist, Paul Lebeau, 50, was found to have been driving at more than double the speed limit along Mile End Road when the crash happened at around 12.40pm on January 10 last year.

Lebeau, of Avondale Road, Bromley, appeared at the Old Bailey on Tuesday and was jailed for three years and four months after admitting causing death by dangerous driving.

He was also banned from driving for eight years and 10 months.

DS Amy Trencher said: "The extremely reckless driving of Lebeau has resulted in a tragic conclusion.

“The speed he choose to travel posed a danger to all road users. I hope today's verdict gives some small comfort to the family of Peter who have behaved with the upmost dignity throughout what has been a very upsetting ordeal."
