The family of murdered honeymoon bride Anni Dewani marked the third anniversary of her death today with prayers.

Anni was shot in the back of a taxi as she travelled in South Africa with her husband Shrien Dewani, 33, of Bristol, who is suspected of ordering the killing.

Anni’s father Vinod Hindocha said: “Today is the day three years ago that our dear and beautiful Anni was taken from us and my heart is completely broken and has never recovered.

“All we are asking for is the full events of the night she was shot.

“It is up to a judge in South Africa to decide what part, if at all, he played in her murder.”

Shrien will face a British court on December 13 as judges reveal whether his last attempt to avoid being forced back to South Africa for trial has been successful.

The millionaire businessman has fought a three-year legal battle to prevent being handed over to South African police investigating Anni’s November 13, 2010 murder, in Cape Town’s Gugulethu suburb.

The Home Secretary and the Chief Magistrate Howard Riddle have both agreed that he should be returned to face trial and doctors have said he is fit to travel.

But three High Court judges are assessing whether it could be deemed “oppressive” to order him back while he is being treated for post-traumatic stress.

Shrien denies that he had any involvement in the shooting.
