Police officers called out to a house to deal with squatters found something entirely different illegally occupying the property - a huge cannabis farm.

Officers visited the house in Crayford Road in Dartford this afternoon, and made the surprise discovery of £150,000 worth of cannabis inside.

A police spokesman said: "At approximately midday on Wednesday, September 30, officers from Crayford Neighbourhood Policing Team attended an address in Crayford Road in relation to an enquiry about squatting.

"On attending the address it became apparent a large number of cannabis plants were being grown inside - no one was present at the address.

"The plants, initially estimated to have a value of approximately £150,000, have been seized and will be destroyed."

No arrests have yet been made, but enquiries are continuing into who is behind the elaborate set-up.
