A “remorseless” rapist who bundled a woman into a car on a high street in East London has been jailed for 10 years as police hunt his accomplice.
The woman in her 20s was followed by an unknown passenger of a vehicle as she walked on Ilford High Rd in the early hours of November 25, 2020.
She was forced into the vehicle where she was attacked by George Stoiean, 27, who was driving the car.
The woman suffered injuries to her face and body after being held down and repeatedly punched, police said.
She was driven a short distance, where she was raped inside the car.
She was then thrown out of the vehicle a few streets away where she managed to get to a friend’s house and raise the alarm.
Detectives used CCTV, phone data and witness accounts to locate Stoiean, who was arrested in Lincolnshire two days after the attack.
Stoiean was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Wednesday. Police said enquiries to locate the passenger were ongoing.
Detective Constable Claire Smith, of the East Area public protection unit, said: “Stoiean has not shown any remorse for his actions and repeatedly lied to police about his involvement in the attack.
“The victim has shown incredible courage after suffering such a terrible ordeal and I hope this sentence brings her some comfort that Stoiean will serve a length custodial sentence before being released.”
