A 21-year-old man was being treated for serious injuries in hospital today after he was stabbed in a suspected gang attack in east London.

The victim was attacked in Manchester Road on the Isle of Dogs just before 2am this morning.

Police were called to the scene at the junction with Plevna Street, close to St John's Park, and found the man suffering from stab wounds.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service took him to an east London hospital for further treatment.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said his condition was not thought to be life-threatening.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police's Trident Gang Crime Command were investigating the attack today and continuing to hunt for his attacker.

Meanwhile in a separate and unrelated attack in east London, a 24-year-old man was stabbed multiple times during the early hours of Friday morning.

The victim was attacked in Rainhill Way, Tower Hamlets, close to the junction with Bruce Way, just before 1.40am, Scotland Yard.

He was taken to an east London hospital to be treated for "a number of stab wounds", police said. His condition was later described by the Met as "stable".

Anyone with information about either attack can contact police on 101.
