A man has been arrested following the suspicious death of a woman in north-east London, police have said.

Officers were called to a report of a disturbance at an address in Waverley Avenue, Chingford, at 11.35pm on Wednesday.

They found a woman aged in her 60s suffering head injuries.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe the woman and the arrested man knew each other.

The man, aged in his 20s, was arrested at the location and taken to a north London police station.

Any witnesses are asked to call police on 101 quoting reference 8609/jan22. Information can be given anonymously through the charity Crimestoppers.
