This is the moment a Good Samaritan was attacked after stepping in to stop a woman from being assaulted in central London
The victim, a 25-year-old man, was walking along Surrey Street, WC2, when he saw two men arguing with a woman shortly after midnight on August 2.
One of the men pushed the woman to the ground and the victim shouted at the men to stop.
The victim was then punched to the ground by two men, who then began to kick him in the head.
Police said to the two suspects left on foot, walking towards the Strand.
The victim sustained cuts, bruises and a broken nose and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Detective Constable Sarah Millman said: "”This was a sustained attack on a man who bravely tried to stop a woman being assaulted. To further the investigation we want to identity the two men in the CCTV.
“The woman who was assaulted left the scene and we would very much like to speak to her. Anyone who contacts us can be assured their information will be kept in strict confidence.”
No arrests have been made.
