A man dressed as Batman has vowed to chase down “killer clowns” scaring children on the streets.

A photograph shared on Facebook showed the man in a Batman costume seemingly running after a creepy clown in Cumbria.

Local costume company Cumbria Superheroes is behind the efforts to rid the streets of the craze, which has swept Britain, the BBC reported.

The company said the costumed man is not a vigilante but is instead trying to reassure frightened local children who are scared of the “killer clowns”.

BBC Cumbria also shared a screenshot of an image apparently from a local child who was comforted after hearing that “Batman” had caught the clown.

It says: "Hi Batman, my name is xxx. I have been scared of this clown situation (school told us about it yesterday).

"I seen on my mammy fb [Facebook] that you caught the clown. This means I can go to school and not be scared, thank you for your efforts".
