A man has died in the second fatal hit and run crash involving a lorry in two days.

Emergency services were called by a member of the public to Commercial Road in Stepney this morning, police said.

The man, thought to be in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 10.30am, Scotland Yard said.

The lorry, described as a tipper truck, failed to stop following the collision at the junction with Sidney Street.

Police added enquires continue and next of kin are yet to be informed.

The crash comes a day after a motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run collision with a cement lorry on Kensington High Street.

Police later traced the lorry before questioning but not arresting its driver.
