A man was arrested in Hyde Park on suspicion of threats to kill today after assaulting a woman and shouting Allahu Akbar while threatening park goers.

The incident happened near Speaker’s Corner at 10am on Wednesday.

t was before protesters began to arrive for a protest about the death of George Floyd and was not connected to the demonstration.

A man was chased through the park by bystanders and intercepted by police.

A passer by said: “He pushed a a woman and then shouted Alluah Akbar over and over again. He had something in his hand, it looked sharp. He was chased by bystanders.”

Police at the scene said a man was arrested on suspicion of threats to kill and cannabis possession.

Officers said that they investigating whether the incident would become a counter terrorist investigation.
