A serving member of Met Police staff has been convicted of intimidating a witness in a harassment case.

Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Mohammed Zaman was convicted at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Zaman, who had been attached to the Met’s West Area BCU covering Ealing, Hillingdon, and Hounslow, will be sentenced on April 8.

The court heard how Zaman was off-duty when he approached a woman on March 24, 2021, who at the time was a victim in a harassment case.

He spoke to her and used words that intimidated her, saying that he and his friends knew where she lived.

He was reported to the police and was arrested the following day. On April 15 last year he was charged and suspended from duty.

Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson, in charge of policing in the area Zaman worked, said: “This is an extremely serious offence and one which undermines the trust and confidence people have in our organisation.

“There is no room for anyone in the Met who thinks this kind of behaviour is acceptable.

“ We will always investigate those who do not meet the very high standards we expect and make sure they are brought to account.”

The Met said that now criminal proceedings are over, a misconduct hearing will take place as soon as possible.
