Police are hunting for a man who used a knife to force train doors open and attack a passenger on board.
A 21-year-old man was left with a cut knee following the attack which took place on a train heading to Charing Cross from Lower Sydenham station, south east London, on June 5.
The victim was waiting at the station at about 9.45pm when he was approached by three men. One of the men sat next to him for a few minutes and chatted to him, before leaving.
However, when he boarded the train a member of the group chased after him and attempted to force his way on board by stabbing at the doors with a knife.
He was able to partially open the doors as the victim kicked out to defend himself, leaving him with a cut knee. The attacker and the rest of the group fled the station.
Detective Constable Rachel Smith, said: “Fortunately the victim was not seriously injured, but this was a frightening incident, not only for the man concerned but also for the other passengers on the train.
“We are following several lines of enquiry in our attempts to find those responsible for this attack.”
British Transport Police have released CCTV images of three men they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.
