Police are hunting a man who tried to put his hand up a 12-year-old girl’s skirt on a bus in east London.

The alleged sexual assault was reported at 3.45pm on September 18 on a route 123 or 179 bus travelling in Woodford Avenue, Ilford, towards Gants Hill.

Police said a man stood next to the victim and attempted to put his hand up her skirt.

He is described as Asian, aged between 40 and 50 with thinning black and grey hair. He was clean shaven and was described as having a possible glass eye.

He wore brown baggy trousers and a black T-shirt with small check patterns. He was carrying a small stick, similar to a walking aid.

Police today released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the assault.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting the reference number 191175.
