A police officer from south-west London has been sacked after he was found guilty of gross misconduct.

PC George Crosbie, based at Richmond, was alleged to have failed to properly investigate an assault allegation in November last year, in which a 22-year-old man was punched in the face.

He was accused to have made false entries on the crime report in relation to the arrest and then lied to a supervisor.

It was further alleged PC Crosbie asked a member of the public to lie to his supervisor in a bid to conceal his actions.

PC Crosbie faced allegations his behaviour breached the Met’s guidelines in respect of 'Duties and Responsibilities', 'Orders and Instructions', 'Honesty and Integrity', 'and 'Discreditable Conduct'.

He was dismissed without notice following a misconduct hearing on Monday.

Scotland Yard said the panel found his case to be gross misconduct after all the evidence and mitigation was heard.
