A psychiatric patient who attacked hospital workers and stole a car after absconding from a mental health unit in south London has been arrested.

Paul Williams, 48, fled from Oxleas House, in Stadium Road, Woolwich, after assaulting two members of staff on Friday morning.

A short time later he assaulted the driver of a car in the same road, stole the vehicle and carried out a burglary at an address in Caldwell Close, Woolwich.

The car driver and the burglary victim did not require hospital treatment, police said.
