A suspect from the original Stephen Lawrence murder inquiry has featured on Crimewatch in connection with an alleged multimillion-pound drug deal.

Jamie Acourt, 39, is accused of being part of a drug dealing gang with connections to London and the North East.

He is specifically wanted for questioning over the alleged supply of cannabis with an estimated street value of more than £4 million. He featured in the Wanted Faces section of the BBC programme.

Acourt, from Bexley, has not been seen since February 1 and is believed to have links to southern Spain, the Metropolitan Police said.

He is wanted alongside Henry Doe, 32, from Richmond upon Thames.

Nine men have been charged in connection with the drugs investigation, Scotland Yard said. Another four people - three men and one woman - have been arrested and remain on bail.

Acourt has always maintained his innocence over the killing of 18-year-old Mr Lawrence, who was stabbed to death in Eltham, south-east London, in 1993.

In 2012 Gary Dobson and David Norris were convicted of the murder of Mr Lawrence and were jailed for life.
