A teenager has been charged with the murder of a 70-year-old man who was found with head injuries.

Kent Police were called to an address in Capstone Road, Gillingham, on Tuesday morning and found the body of pensioner Trevor Hadlow.

The man's family said in a statement released through police: "Trevor was quite a character, who enjoyed the outdoor life.

"He was always willing to help out friends and neighbours. He will be missed by many."

A 17-year-old youth from Sheerness, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with murder.

He was also charged with attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and dangerous driving.

These additional charges relate to an incident in High Street, Eastchurch, on July 8 in which a traffic warden was injured, according to Kent Police.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear before Medway Magistrates' Court on Monday.
