A teenager has suffered severe burns to his face and body after a “corrosive substance” was thrown at him in west London.

The 18-year-old was talking to a woman, 47, on Fulham Palace Road when another male approached them just after 1pm yesterday.

The man suddenly threw a harmful substance over the victim, with some splashing the woman’s shoulder and neck as well, police said.

The suspect then fled the scene via Crabtree Lane and police believe he may have then escaped the area on a moped which had been parked on Bothwell Street.

Both victims were rushed to hospital where the teenager was found to have suffered possibly life-changing injuries to his face, neck and shoulder. The woman was treated for small burns and has since been discharged.

Police have now launched a hunt for the suspect, described as a black male. No arrests have been made and tests are being carried out to establish the nature of the substance thrown.

The incident took place days after a pair of similar attacks over the Easter weekend. On Good Friday a motorist was sprayed in the face with a “noxious substance” in a violent carjacking in Bow.

The victim, in his 20s, was driving an Audi S3 in Bow when he was bumped from behind by another car containing several men. One then jumped out, sprayed a “noxious substance” in his face and stole the car, which was found abandoned in Manor Park two days later.

In the early hours of Monday morning, a nightclub in Hackney had to be evacuated after 20 clubbers were sprayed with acid and seriously hurt, with a 22-year-old woman blinded in one eye.

Police today said they were still hunting Arthur Collins, 25, the boyfriend of reality TV star Ferne McCann, in connection with the incident at the Mangle club in Dalston.

They revealed three arrest warrants had been carried out at addresses in Hertfordshire, with one woman arrested on suspicion of firearm offences. Members of the public were warned not to approach Collins.

Among those hurt was Sadie Wright, the cousin of ex-Premier League footballer Jamie O’Hara, Australian model Isobella Fraser, 22, who was burnt down her arm and back when the liquid seared through her dress and left her unable to breathe, and her sister, Prue, 20, who was scalded by the noxious substance.
