Terror police arrest seven in dawn raids

Anti-terror police today swooped on seven people in connection with an alleged major drug smuggling operation to the United States.

The seven were held at addresses in London, Coventry and Cardiff on suspicion they were raising cash to fund terrorism abroad.

They are being questioned about their alleged involvement in an operation to smuggle the drug khat which is legal in Britain but whose ingredients are a controlled substances in the States.

Scotland Yard’s Counter Terrorism Command carried out the arrests in a swoop linked to an investigation by US Homeland Security.

Officers arrested six men and a woman at four addresses at 6am today.
