A 36-year-old woman was today due in court charged with murdering her father at their east London home.

Brian Darbyshire, 67, was found dead on Thursday morning after police forced their way into his house in Wykeham Green, Dagenham, having been unable to get an answer at the door.

His daughter Clair was arrested in Canterbury, Kent, six hours later.

She was charged with murder and was today due at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court. Police have said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with Mr Darbyshire’s death.

A post mortem examination was due to take place at Queen’s Hospital, Romford, today.
