A woman was grabbed off the street and raped as she walked home from a railway station, police said today.
The 24-year-old was in Warwick Gardens, Peckham, south east London around 10.35pm on Wednesday October 10 after getting off a train at Peckham Rye.
A man came up behind her and put his arm around her shoulder, asking if he could talk to her.
She screamed, and he grabbed her by the throat, forced her into shrubbery close to the railway line and raped her. He then ran away in the direction of Lyndhurst Way.
The attacker is black, in his late twenties or early thirties, between 5ft 10in and 6ft and had a strong African accent. He was wearing a light or grey tracksuit.
