A young female passenger was assaulted by a stranger at Victoria station after she ignored his demands that she give him her used ticket.

Police on Tuesday released CCTV pictures of a suspect in the attack, which left the 24-year-old victim in hospital.

It happened in the main station concourse at about 5.30pm on November 16.

Transport cops said the woman had just stepped off a train and was making her way out of the station when she was approached by a man who asked whether she had finished with her ticket.

When she ignored his advances, the man turned on her and shoved her into a pillar, causing her to hit her head and injure her leg and shoulder.

Fellow passengers rushed to the woman’s aid and she was taken to hospital, while her attacker fled the scene.

British Transport Police trawled through CCTV from the station to identify a man they believe may be able to help with their investigation.

Pc Elspeth Cook said: “We have reduced crime at Victoria station and this type of incident is rare.

“Fortunately the woman’s injuries were not serious, but this was a frightening assault and we need to find the person responsible.
