Classical sisters in a Rush for rock deal

A quartet of sisters from north London are hoping to land a record deal after being runners up in a national competition for unsigned bands.

The Fourfits are classically trained musicians who turned their hand to rock music.

Charlotte, 23, Harriet, 22, Becky, 19, and 17-year-old Alice Moss are in talks with music producers after they came second in the rock and metal category of the Live And Unsigned band battle at the 02.

Bassist and singer Harriet, who lives in Holloway and works in music PR, said: “We’ve had talks with producers about working on an album. Once we have something recorded we can start trying to pursue record labels.”

The girls all trained on the piano and string instruments before turning to rock, playing gigs at venues including Proud in Camden.

Harriet added: “There is no sibling rivalry —I wouldn’t want to play with anyone else. We grew up with our parents playing things like Rush, AC/DC, Fleetwood Mac, which is why we love rock.”

Kerrang! Radio presenter Alex Baker, who judged the competition at the 02, said: “There’s something really cool and old school about them.”

In an earlier version of this article we referred to the Fourfits as having won the rock and metal category of the the Live & Unsigned competition. In fact, they were runners-up to Contraband, a five-piece rock band from Oxfordshire (www.contrabandrock.com). Our apologies.
