Farringdon crash: Female cyclist fighting for life following collision with car in central London

A female cyclist is fighting for her life following a crash with a car in central London.

Police and London Ambulance Service rushed to the scene on St John Street near Farringdon station shortly after 11.30am on Wednesday.

The woman was taken to an east London hospital in a critical condition, Scotland Yard said.

Pictures shared on social media showed a cordon in place as ambulance crews treated the woman.

A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called at approximately 11.36am to reports of a collision between a car and a cyclist on St John Street, EC1.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended.

"The female cyclist was taken to an east London hospital in a critical condition.

"Her next of kin have been made aware."

Road closures remain in place and enquiries continue, the statement added.
