Labour ‘wrong’ over shut child centres

Westminster council has accused Labour of a “serious error” for claiming it had closed a string of children’s centres.

It said 12 Sure Start centres are all still open contrary to Labour claims that it had seen “the biggest reduction” in the country.

Labour said the figures came from a written answer to Parliament from Childhood Minister Elizabeth Truss.

A spokesman for Ms Truss said her figures were “based on information supplied by Westminster council”.
