A girlfriend surprised her partner with a leap year proposal as she popped the question at one of London’s busiest train stations.
Nicole Ross, 27, asked her boyfriend of three years, Craig Mackay to marry as her, when the couple were surrounded by commuters at Marylebone Station this morning.
The proposal included a flash mob choir, tannoy announcement and the words “Will you marry me Craig?” lit up the departure boards as Ms Ross got down on one knee.
A gathering crowd of commuters celebrated the age-old custom of a woman proposing to a man on February 29, and clapped and cheered as Mr Mackay, 31, accepted.
Ms Ross said: “I’ve always been one for big romantic gestures and seeing as it’s a leap year I thought why not take the next step in our relationship and do it in a way that we will both remember for the rest of our lives.
“I wanted the day to be perfect down to the last detail, from the flash mob singing our favourite song, to the celebratory announcement over the tannoy.
“It took a great deal of hard work and planning.”
She organised the proposal with Two Together Railcard, which offers a third off rail travel for two people travelling together.
Mr Mackay said: “Nicole has never been one to do things by halves and she certainly didn’t disappoint on this occasion.
“We have discussed marriage in the past but for her to propose was completely unexpected – not to mention how it all took place.”
