Facebook has activated its safety check tool so people can let loved ones know they are safe following the London Bridge terror attack.

The feature allows users to let friends and family know they are OK by marking themselves as “safe”.

It also displays a list of friends who have marked themselves as safe.

The tool was previously used during the terror attack on Westminster in March as well as attacks in Paris and Orlando.

The Met Police have confirmed two separate incidents on London Bridge and in Borough market were part of a terror attack on the capital.
