Six fire crews are tackling a blaze near Paddington station as huge plumes of smoke were seen billowing across the train tracks.

Dozens of firefighters and several police vehicles scrambled to a fire in a restaurant on Sheldon Square, outside the transport hub, at 5.35pm.

One man was rescued from the eatery and is being treated for smoke inhalation, London Fire Brigade said.

Pictures and videos from the scene in west London show clouds of smoke engulfing the train lines.
